Principles and processes of water-repellent finishing of polyester fabrics

Polyester fabric is a relatively common textile fabric. It is widely used in clothing, outdoor products, work clothes and other fields due to its smooth appearance, easy washing and quick drying, and high strength. Water-repellent finishing of polyester fabrics can, on the one hand, improve the wearing properties of the fabric, and on the other hand, it can give polyester fabrics water-repellent properties to meet people’s needs in certain aspects.

The principle of water-repellent finishing of polyester fabrics is to use textile water-repellent agents to post-finish polyester fabrics and use the lotus leaf effect principle to reduce the surface tension of polyester fabrics so that water droplets cannot wet the surface. The resulting polyester fabric is not only water-repellent, but also has good air permeability. Texnology® FB101 is a carbon six water-repellent agent with excellent water-repellent performance and is safe and environmentally friendly. It is suitable for polyester fabrics and fibers. Plain fiber and its blended fabrics are treated with water-repellent finishing to give the fabrics a long-lasting and excellent water-repellent effect.

The application process of Texnology®FB101 carbon six water repellent for finishing polyester fabrics is mainly the padding process:

Use 20-60g/L Texnology® FB101 padding – drying (110℃-130℃) – baking (150℃ 3 minutes or 170℃-180℃ 40 seconds – 30 seconds)
