Regulations for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) will be stricter. All future product levels must not exceed the following limits

Value:

Product Classes I to IV: < 1.0 µg/m² (Previously Class I: 0.05 mg/kg; Classes II and III: 0.1mg/kg; Class IV: 0.5 mg/kg)

This ensures that OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 also covers the current Norwegian legal provisions regarding the use of PFOA in textiles, carpets and other coated consumer products. Since it is not only PFOA itself that is banned but also various salts and esters of perfluorooctanoic acid, Annex 5 of the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 standard does not simply record the CAS number of PFOA, but uses the word “various” Include all disabled facts.

The perfluorooctane sulfonyl compound (PFOS) limit value changes to <1.0µg/m² (previously 1.0 µg/m²) in all product grades.

Through these two initiatives, OEKO-TEX® supports many brands and retailers who want to completely eliminate hazardous chemicals from their production processes by 2020, supporting “Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)” and detoxification initiatives .
