According to the British “Daily Mail” report on August 4, no one wants to get wet during a water fight. Threadsmiths, a clothing technology company in Melbourne, Australia, has developed a new T-shirt that is waterproof and will never get wet.
The T-shirt, called Cavalier, is made of pure cotton and uses a “non-wetting” nanotechnology in the fiber that repels most liquids and dust. This patented technology is different from other liquid-repellent technologies that use chemical substances. Threadsmiths states on its website: “Our T-shirts imitate the natural waterproof function of lotus leaves and are absolutely safe to wear.”
Threadsmiths’ invention simply enhances the material’s water- and stain-resistant properties, allowing water beads and stains to roll off clothing fibers. The T-shirt is naturally self-cleaning and any remaining stains can be removed simply by wiping or rinsing with water.
It is speculated that this new fabric will bring revolutionary changes to restaurants and cafes, and can also be widely used in hospitals and medical institutions. The fabric is machine washable and waterproof to withstand 80 washes.
