Overview of singeing machine
1. Purpose of singeing
When fibers are rubbed during spinning and weaving, many short and loose fibers are exposed on the surface of the spinning yarn, and a layer of short fibers stands on the surface of the fabric. If you flatten the fabric and hold it in front of your eyes, you can see this layer of fluff of varying lengths along the surface of the fabric. This layer of fluff not only affects the cleanliness of the fabric and is easily contaminated with dust, but also causes various defects during printing and dyeing.
If the fluff falls into the silk finishing lye, the impurities in the lye will increase, affecting the silk finish and making it difficult to recycle the lye; the fluff falling into the printing paste will easily cause slurry and knife dragging, affecting the clarity of the pattern, etc. Defects; the surface fluff of polyester/cotton fabrics is prone to pilling, etc. Therefore, except for some special varieties, general cotton, linen fabrics, polyester, vinylon, polyacrylonitrile fiber and cotton blended chemical fiber fabrics must be singed before deboiling and bleaching.
Some worsted woolen fabrics, silk fabrics, knitted fabrics and spun yarns also need to be singed according to finishing requirements.
2. Principle of singeing
Singeing is a finishing process in which the fabric quickly passes through the flame of the singeing machine or rubs the red-hot metal surface in an open-width state to remove the fluff on the surface of the fabric and obtain a clean surface. . At this time, the fluff on the cloth surface is close to the flame and loose, and it quickly heats up and burns. The fabric itself heats up slowly because it is relatively tight, thick, and far away from the flame. When the temperature has not reached the ignition point, it has already left the flame or the red-hot metal surface. Therefore, the principle of different heating rates of the cloth body and the fluff is used to achieve The purpose is to only burn away the fluff on the surface without damaging the fabric. Of course, improper control of the singeing temperature and the speed of the singeing machine will also damage the fabric.
3. Types of singeing machines
There are two ways of singeing, namely contact singeing and non-contact singeing. Contact singeing machines include copper plate singeing machines, cylinder singeing machines, and electric hot plate singeing machines. The non-contact singeing machine is a gas singeing machine. At present, gas singeing machines are widely used, copper plate and cylinder singeing machines are not widely used, and electric hot plate singeing machines have been basically eliminated.
