Weft insertion mechanism
Another function of the opening plate on the rotating drum is to form a weft yarn channel (Figure 5-9), into which the weft yarn is introduced with the help of low-pressure compressed air across the entire width of the fabric. There are relay nozzles between the opening pieces to ensure that the weft yarn is reliably delivered to the entire effective weaving width.
The four weft yarns are drawn out from the fixed weft yarn package at a constant speed by the length-counting roller. Its speed depends on the weft insertion speed and the effective weaving width, and 1/4 of the weft insertion rate is controlled by the speed of the length-counting roller. When the weft insertion speed is 5000m/min, the spinning line speed is about 20m/s.
Several key technologies are required to introduce four weft yarns into the shed of the rotating drum at the same time (Figure 5-10). The weft insertion component, that is, the weft insertion manipulator and the rotating drum are coaxial rotary disks used to distribute and introduce the weft yarn. The weft insertion manipulator (Figure 5-11) consists of two discs and a multi-channel system. The weft yarn transported by the compressed air leaves the introduction channel and enters the corresponding weft yarn channel in sequence. The weft insertion manipulator also has a main nozzle function.
There is a spinning yarn holder and main scissors between the weft insertion manipulator and the weft yarn channel. The clamper can stop the introduction of each weft yarn, and the controlled main scissors will cut it off in time. If there is an error in weft insertion, the machine will stop automatically to deal with yarn defects (Figure 5-12).
