1.Purpose and Scope

1.1 This test method is applicable to any fabric with or without waterproof or water-repellent finishing. This standard can be used to measure the impact water penetration resistance of fabrics and predict the rainwater penetration resistance of fabrics. It is especially suitable for measuring the penetration resistance of clothing fabrics.

1.2 The results of this test method depend on the water-repellent properties of fiber yarns, fabric structure and finishing in the fabric.

2.Principle

2.1 Place a piece of weighed absorbent paper behind the sample, spray a certain volume of water onto the taut surface of the sample, and then reweigh the absorbent paper to measure the water permeability, and thereby evaluate the water permeability of the sample. .

4.Sample preparation

Cut at least three samples, each with a size of 178mmx330mm, and the length direction is the warp direction (the longitudinal direction of the fabric). The sample and absorbent paper were placed in a standard atmosphere with a relative humidity of 65% ± 2% and a temperature of 21C +19C for at least 4 hours before testing.

5.Operating procedures

5.1 Clamp one end of the sample to the 152mm spring clip at the top of the slope, and the other 152mm ± 10mm, weighing 0.4536kg spring clip to the free end of the sample. Weigh a 152mm x 230mm piece of standard absorbent paper to the nearest 0.1g and insert it under the specimen.

5.2 Pour 500mL ± 10mL of distilled water, deionized water or reverse osmosis water at 27C ± 1C into the funnel of the tester, and spray the water onto the sample. When pouring water into the funnel, do not create a vortex in the funnel (you can fix the small blade in the funnel and extend it to the side to prevent the generation of vortex).

5.3 After the entire spraying, carefully pick up the sample, take out the absorbent paper underneath, and then quickly weigh it again to the nearest 0.1g.

6.Evaluation

Calculate the increase in weight of the absorbent paper and report the average result for the three specimens. The test value or average value of a single sample is greater than 5.0g, and can be reported as 5+g or >5.0g.

7.Report
