In recent years, with the emergence of new polyester PTT and people’s deepening understanding of the properties of this polyester, its application advantages in silk have become increasingly apparent. At the beginning of the emergence of PET, many people engaged in product design wanted to apply this polyester to interweaving or blending with silk, hoping to use the good elastic recovery and anti-wrinkle properties of PET fiber to improve the shortcomings of silk. However, the actual situation Not ideal. Because the temperature of PET dyeing is relatively high, when the temperature is too high, the silk will turn yellow, which will affect the performance of the product. Therefore, PET has been on the road of imitating silk for a long time. Compared with PET, PTT can achieve normal pressure boiling dyeing without the above-mentioned problems. In addition, the PTT/PET bicomponent fiber with excellent elasticity and the PTT shape memory filament with excellent memory performance that have appeared in recent years have given PTT an advantage in silk products. The development has brought broad development prospects.

From the current point of view, the applications of PTT in the development of silk products mainly include: First, the development of silk elastic fabrics. Such products make full use of the excellent elasticity and elastic recovery of PTT/PET composite silk, and add a low proportion of PTT to silk products. The fiber does not affect the feel, luster and comfort of silk fabrics, but it can greatly improve the wearing performance of silk fabrics and increase the elasticity of the fabrics. The second is the development of silk semi-memory fabrics. The so-called memory fabrics generally mean that after the fabric is wrinkled, it can return to flatness with a gentle touch. Since the end of 2006, PTT shape memory fabric has become a hit in China’s functional fabric market and has become one of the few high value-added products in the domestic market. Introducing PTT shape memory silk into the development of silk products and developing semi-memory silk products can further expand the application scope of silk fabrics. In addition, cleverly matching PTT fiber with silk, developing guipure fabrics, and developing silk/PTT core-spun yarn fabrics are all future directions for the development of new silk products.

Of course, so far, due to various restrictions, PTT has been relatively rarely used in the development of silk fabrics. However, more and more silk companies have shown interest in PTT fiber. I believe that PTT fiber will make great achievements in the development of silk products in the future. .
