Dangers of Mosquitoes and Related Measures to Prevent Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes not only harm our living environment, but also spread a variety of diseases, endanger human health, and cause great disasters and losses to humans. According to the World Health Organization, between 1948 and 1970, due to the use of chemical pesticides, 50 million people were prevented from dying, and as many as 1 billion people were prevented from suffering from diseases. Therefore, it is of great significance to use chemical pesticides to control harmful hygienic insects.
With the development of science and technology, people are exploring more methods to apply them in anti-mosquito products. Although a large number of modern technologies have been integrated into anti-mosquito finishing, these methods are not only still in the development stage, but more importantly, these methods are not suitable for general use by ordinary families. Therefore, the more traditional and easy-to-use mosquito repellent methods are still widely used at this stage. Among them, aerosols and mosquito coils account for 70% of market sales. This method is easy to use and economical, but the effect is not long-lasting and requires frequent use. In addition, the smoke or chemicals released by mosquito coils or insecticide aerosols will cause certain harm to the human body.
Anti-mosquito performance test
The testing methods for mosquito repellent are discussed in more detail in the World Health Organization document WHO/CDS/WHOPES/GCDPP/2000.5 “Global Cooperation to Promote the Development of Insecticides in Public Health – Repellency and Toxicity of Personal Protection” , and recommended several internationally commonly used test methods, mainly including:

(5) Domestic testing methods include GB/T 30126-2013 “Testing and Evaluation of Mosquito-Repellent Performance of Textiles”
Mosquitoes are a problem in every country in the world, and our country is located in the subtropics, so this problem is also quite prominent. At the same time, mosquitoes are also transmitters of malaria and some viruses. During the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in the 1970s, our army suffered from mosquito bites in the tropical jungle. Currently, officers and soldiers on duty at the border are also in urgent need of mosquito-proof clothing. Therefore, textiles with anti-mosquito finishing have a very broad market.
Anti-mosquito textiles are a new topic in the interdisciplinary science of modern dyeing and finishing technology and biology. It is difficult and involves a wide range of areas. In order to protect people’s health, improve our military’s combat effectiveness, and reduce diseases, experts in related disciplines need to work together to develop more new products as soon as possible to meet people’s needs and make greater contributions to pest control and disease prevention.
