Various softeners based on amino-modified silicone oil emulsions are widely used in the finishing processing of cotton, silk, wool, polyester and other textiles. The finished fabrics are soft, smooth, beautiful, washable and comfortable to wear. This type of product has been accepted by people. The shortcomings are mainly manifested in the light-colored and white fabrics treated with it. During use, varying degrees of yellowing or demulsification and oil bleaching will occur. During the padding process, the phenomenon of roller sticking occurs; the fabric treated by it is hydrophobic and is not comfortable when worn.
In order to overcome the above shortcomings of traditional amino silicone oil, various methods have been used to improve it, including side chain polyether modification, epoxy modification or carboxyl modification. The modified silicone oil has improved stability, but has a different hand feel. In the late 1990s, someone proposed linear copolymerization of amino groups and polyether bases in the siloxane skeleton from the perspective of molecular design to synthesize a new linear amino-polyether-based block copolymer. Due to the anchoring effect of the amino groups, the entire polymer Silicone can be firmly bonded to the surface of the fabric, maintaining the original softness and smoothness of polysiloxane. The hydrophilic polyether chain segments exist on the fiber surface in an inverted form, and water molecules are not affected by the fiber surface. The transfer of obstacles creates the compatibility of softness and hydrophilicity. This is a new stage in the development of silicone softeners and the future development direction.
